Edit: Below is my personal Norwegian Air flight review. However, this edit from my most recent experience. We flew for a 3rd time with Norwegian Air, and while the flight itself was flawless (except for one rude-ish flight attendant), we did not receive our suitcases for 3 days. It did not make it from Gatwick-London to Singapore. Now, that’s fine, and I get it might happen. But we were advised by the lost baggage office in Singapore that we could potentially claim for the items we had to purchase in the 3 days we didn’t have our bags. Imagine leaving London in freezing cold with winter clothes, and arriving in…

The Glass House by Jeannette Walls – Book Review
Back by popular demand (ha!), I’m reviewing a book again. Decided this book was worth it. The Glass Castle is another amazing book I found on my kindle. I was on the night train from Nong Khai to Bangkok and it was 7.30pm and the train guy had already made my bed. I wasn’t tired though so once I finished Last Night at Chateau Marmont by the same author as The Devil Wears Prada, I tried to find something else to read. I opened about seven books then closed them before randomly picking The Glass Castle based on the name. The first page got me hooked. A woman hides in…

Upstream Color (2013) Movie Review
WARNING SPOILERS BELOW Upstream Color is an epic trailer of very internal emotions, experimental expressions and sensual feelings. There seem to be more lens flares than plot points and actors often looked as confused as I was. Sporadic focus drowns most of the movie in shallow depth of field and Upstream Color is further estranged from convention as it was seemingly edited by a very angry Edward Scissorhands. For a movie with colour in the title, there is very little colour in it and at times it seems to be more about sound. I still don’t know if avoiding to sync dialogue creates more depth, but I have found more…

Book Review – The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman
This book intrigued me right from the start. It started with some newspaper headlines in capital letters, screaming ‘WORLD’S OLDEST LIAR DIES AT 126’ ‘EUROPEANS ARE LAZY, STUDY SAYS’ ‘GLOBAL WARMING GOOD FOR ICE CREAMS’ and my favourite headline, ‘THE SEX LIVES OF ISLAMIC EXTEMISTS.’ It started off with a story about an old French journalist, Lloyd Burko, who is down on his luck, out of touch with the modern and current events, his children despise him and his younger wife sleeps with the neighbour – an arrangement that suits all parties. I found the story very interesting and was excited to find a novel in my kindle that wasn’t…

Gonna review me some books
As I used to get severe air sickness, I stopped watching in-flight entertainment more than 10 years ago (after an extremely messy bout of air sickness and food poisoning that happened to combine on a flight to London). So I slept. Slept as much as I could on flights, but that got boring quickly. And uncomfortable. Then I discovered I could read on a flight and not puke, what luck! Lionel bought me a kindle for my birthday last year and it’s my favourite travel/life accessory. It saves me from buying books for holidays, where I, once upon a time, had to throw/give away books once finished as it didn’t…
