Bangkok to Vientiane by Night Train
We decided to go from Bangkok to Vientiane using the night train which would leave at 8pm, arriving in Nong Khai at 7.30am. You can’t actually buy a direct ticket from Bangers to Vientiane, so you’ll need to go through Nong Khai. Nong Khai is the border town on the Thai side. Direct bus from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia; the more sane way
Since February 2013, Transport Co in Thailand offers a direct bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap, here’s how to catch it. Take the red bus number 3 from Khaosan road to Mo Chit bus terminal. The fare is about 7baht per person and it takes between 45mins to 1hour 30mins, depending on traffic. You can catch the yellow bus for three times the fare to get AC. Red is just fine. Wooden floors, open windows and no suspension. It is a bumpy ride, keep a loose jaw and you’ll arrive in tact. The last stop is Mo Chit and as you get off, walk through the market until there is…

Happy Buddha Day everyone!
A random on the street told us today is Buddha Day and the government pays the fuel for all Tuk Tuks and we only need to pay 20baht for 2 hours to see four sights. Then he circled everything on our map and said we can walk it too. Soon after a Tuk Tuk drove past and he hailed it for us. The driver soon agreed that it is indeed Buddha Day and we can have him for 2 hours for 20baht. Then the first guy left. I smelled the dead rat here and asked more questions, kept saying I don’t believe him. Then another seemingly passer-by joined us. A…
