    The Diving on Koh Tao

    January 21, 2016

Here’s a look at the diving from 2015 on Koh Tao with Sairee Cottage Diving. Filmed, and edited by yours truly! Enjoy! F***, I love my life.

Best Time to go to Bali for Diving and Where To Stay

    September 24, 2015

Bali is an awesome island for scuba diving. While it wasn’t on my wishlist for a long time (the drunken Aussie bogan stories had always put me off), once I started diving, I heard it was the place to be. The diving around Bali has strong currents. Because of this, it is super rich in nutrients. This is what draws the cool stuff to see while scuba diving. The mola molas, the mantas, and the thousands of little critters hiding in the muck. Best time to go to Bali for diving? The best time to go to Bali for diving is from May to November. It’s after the hot hot…

Koh Tao – Don’t Not Come and The Day We Saved A Turtle

    September 17, 2014

Just wanted to post an update re: current murderous situation on Koh Tao. We are fine. Yes, it was pretty close to us, but considering it happened on the longest, busiest stretch of beach on Koh Tao where the majority of locals, foreign locals, and tourists stay, everything is in close proximity. Especially on an island about 21 km². It’s a horrid situation, but not believed to be a random attack which makes us feel better. For now, business is as usual. On the upside, this morning I was filming a diving video for a few fun divers and we stumbled across a turtle that had its’ fin stuck in…

This Is What We Do – A Diving Video

    September 13, 2014

Here’s an underwater video I shot for Sairee Cottage. Lionel is side-mount diving with a colleague. Side-mount diving is diving with two tanks either side. That’s double the air, and potentially double the dive time. You look cooler (very important in diving), and you can squeeze into some pretty cool crevices!

    Turtle at Lham Tien

    August 28, 2014

I’ve finally discovered how to get screen shots from the footage I shoot, so here’s some from this morning’s dive. I had finished my safety stop, surfaced, and was heading back to the boat when someone yelled, ‘turtle!’ Of course I had to drop down and get some shots.

Diving with Team Awesome – Koh Tao Diving Video

    May 21, 2014

Two very cool divers, which are now very good friends have cut together this awesome video about our diving together! I assisted on their Open Water, Advanced, Nitrox, Deep and Wreck Specialty courses during my Divemaster course at Sairee Cottage and it was a fantastic experience! Some of my first dive leads were these guys! Lucky I didn’t get lost. Thank you Tobbe and Linda. All credits for the video goes to Tobbe and Linda. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqNVP_2xL3o

Songkran! An Epic Waterfight on Koh Tao

    April 15, 2014

What is Songkran you ask? I asked the very same question and got two answers from various people regarding the 13th of April. 1. It’s the Thai New Year according to the Buddhist calendar. 2. It’s the one day a year on Koh Tao where everything is shut and you get drunk and there’s an epic water fight on the streets. Prior to this day we were advised to buy some water guns to use at Songkran. However, due to Songkran all of the stores were now charging hundreds of baht for cheap, plastic water guns. We’re cheap. We refused to buy them of course. So we woke up on…

Vietnamese Sleeper Coffin – Part II

    July 19, 2013

After our last horrendous experience on a ‘sleeper bus’ (where a bus is converted into a room with top and bottom bunks) we swore we would never experience it again. But we were forced to take one up from Dong Hoi to Hanoi, and luckily we knew what to ask this time. First time from Ho Chi Minh, the lady at the travel agency said there were no seats/beds at the front available, so we agreed to the back seats on the condition there was no bathroom next to us. What she failed to disclose (even after I had asked her several times) was that the back beds are so…
