Koh Tao Festival 2016 Toilets. What to Expect.

    June 19, 2016

This year it falls on the 18th and 19th of June, and right now I can hear the thumping bass from the festival grounds. It’s my third year attending the Koh Tao Festival, and as always, it’s a time for the Thais, Burmese workers, and Westerners (local, and tourists) to mingle, eat food, drink, and listen to looooud, peaking Thai techno/pop. There’s also usually a few shows that are performed on the main stage, and last night we watched the…

    We are the worst people…

    May 14, 2015

…at blogging. But that’s because we’re having too much fun diving! I’m making no apologies right now. We did set up this blog to inform our family and friends of what we’re up to, and where we are, and it also grew to become a blog that hopefully helped people with planning their trip around South East Asia. (Un)Fortunately, the reason we’re so slack with blogging is because we are really enjoying life right now. It is awesome. Everyday we jump into the water, and we see some pretty interesting stuff. We move around in a 3D space, blowing bubbles, and we live on a tropical island. I film brand…

Don’t Be This Guy! – At A Cinema

    March 6, 2015

Went to Samui to extend our visa. Turns out it was ‘Big Buddha Day,’ a Thai public holiday which meant the immigration office was closed. Ended up having to spend a night on Samui where we ate terribly overpriced meals, bought pillows at Tesco Lotus, and watched ‘Chappie’ at the cinemas. Great movie, great pillows, long 34 hrs away from Koh Tao.

How to Do Street Food in South East Asia

    December 31, 2014

Most times there will be a language barrier but this shouldn’t stop you from trying food carts. At first, we would move cautiously up to the food cart, looking at each other, whispering ‘do you think it’s safe to eat? What is that?’ and then point to something asking ‘how much?’ If you do ask how much, it may cause the street vendor to stop, think, and decide to tell you an inflated price. We now confidently walk up to the cart, have a look, put two fingers up, nod, hold out some cash, and hope for change. Just pretend you know what you’re doing! At times you will need…
